DRIVE MY CAR
»Men Without Women« is the name of the Haruki Murakami collection from which this short story was adapted, and that might as well be the title of Ryūsuke Hamaguchi’s equally impressive film. The wife of theater director Kafuku is having an affair, but before they can separate, she dies – and Kafuku is left alone with the question: who was his wife’s lover? He may find the answer in his work directing Chekhov’s drama »Uncle Vanya«. But as always with a Murakami story: Nothing is as clear-cut as it seems on first glance.
