LINGUI – HEILIGE BANDE
A film about female solidarity against the backdrop of a deeply patriarchal society: Mahamat-Saleh Haroun (DARATT) tells the story of Amina and Maria, mother and daughter, living together in a dusty suburb of Chad's capitol city of N’Djamena. When the 15-year-old gets pregnant, she doesn't want to keep the child – but abortions are illegal. The more desperate the situation gets, the more determined the women become. As always, Haroun's latest drama again gains its immense power from a strict reduction of stylistic means.
