Lawyer Rita seems trapped in a frustrating job in Mexico City until a mysterious caller offers her a lot of money for a not entirely legal assignment. That’s all that should be revealed about this madcap mixture of musical, thriller and telenovela-style melodrama. Who would have thought that the otherwise hyper-masculine Jacques Audiard (A PROPHET) would make a film that would have made Pedro Almodóvar proud. With a fantastic ensemble around Zoë Zaldana, which was collectively honoured with the acting award at Cannes.
