KNEECAP

The winner of the Audience Award at this year’s Sundance Film Festival combines politics and pop culture in a rousing way. It tells the story of Northern Irish rappers Kneecap, who mix Irish and English rhymes and have become something like folk heroes in their home city of Belfast. Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap and DJ Próvaí, as they are known on stage, play themselves with infectious energy – which lends the film a special authenticity, even if the story of the band’s formation would certainly not have been quite as wild and funny in reality.
