Félicité works as a bar singer in Kinshasa. The proud single mother knows how to fend for herself in this bubbly and cut-throat ten million people metropolis. But then her son gets hit by a car and needs an expensive operation, and suddenly Félicité needs the help of others – it's the start of an odyssey through the city. French-Senegalese filmmaker Alain Gomis enthuses us with this African big-city-film full of vitality and great music by local stars Kasai Allstars and the Congolese Orchestre Symphonique Kimbanguiste. Among other awards, FÉLICITÉ won the main prize at the most important African film festival FESPACO in Ouagadougou, and the Jury Award at the Berlin Film Festival.
