Lover For A Day

Nouvelle Vague veteran Philippe Garrel comes back with another idiosyncratic black-and-white Paris-based feature film revolving around love, lust and jealousy. Philosophy professor Gilles starts an affair with his student Ariane, who is the same age as his daughter Jeanne. Jeanne meanwhile moves back in with her father after a traumatic break-up with her first big love. It's an unusual trio that somehow has to come to terms in Gilles' apartment. Just like in his last films L'OMBRE DES FEMMES and LA JALOUSIE Garrel ironically toys with the clichés of French cinema and twists them to surprising results. Garrel’s collaborators on the screenplay include Buñuel favourite Jean-Claude Carrière and long-time Maurice Pialat co-author Arlette Langmann.
