The opening titles reveal a “somewhat true story”: Gary Johnson is a part-time college lecturer and advises the New Orleans police on the side. Due to adverse circumstances, one day he is asked to go undercover as an alleged hitman for those same law enforcement officers. Usually a loser, Gary discovers that he is really good at his new job. A black-humoured, philosophical thriller comedy that only Richard Linklater could make. It garnered scene applause at its Venice world premiere.
