When a concentration camp transport gets liberated by the Red Army near an East German village during the last days of WW2, soldiers, villagers and concentration camp survivors all have to come to an arrangement – low on food and medicine, with mistrust and disease spreading. But an unlikely friendship grows between three very different women: a Dutch Jewess, a Russian sniper and a German girl from the former Hitler Youth. This multilingual and complex drama, based on true historical events, touchingly explores themes of survival, trauma and absolution.
