New Aesthetic: Ghosts In The Machine

Every adequately progressive technology is indistinguishable from pure magic, as Science Fiction visionary Arthur C. Clarke once wrote. This short film program is dedicated to the ghosts living inside our technology. Can characters in a computer simulation hope for an afterlife? Can drones give us out-of-body experiences? These are the questions this programme's films are contemplating, while simultaneously laying open the parallels between digital technology and religion, spiritualism, shamanism and supernatural phenomena. Since 2013 the KFFK/Kurzfilmfestival Köln shines a light on the border between short film, online art, games and video art in their series New Aesthetic.
