The best Iranian film ever made by a Canadian. Matthew Rankin (THE TWENTIETH CENTURY) transforms his hometown of Winnipeg into a mixture of French Canadian snow desert and Tehran circa 1985 for his loving homage to filmmakers such as Abbas Kiarostami and Jafar Panahi. What may sound like an inside joke for film nerds has actually turned out as a heart-rending comedy full of poetry and surreal humour. It deservedly won the Audience Award in the Quinzaine des cinéastes section at Cannes this year.
