FOUR DAUGHTERS

In 2014 the two eldest daughters of Tunisian woman Olfa Hamrouni disappeared. Eight years later, director Kaouther Ben Hania casts two actresses to work through the family's history with Olfa and the two remaining daughters – also in order not to force Olfa to reenact traumatic moments herself. The result is a complex, self-reflexive chamber play about transgenerational wounds and motherhood in a patriarchal society.
