LITTLE GIRL BLUE

After her mother Carole’s suicide, director Mona Achache found photos, letters and sound recordings in her estate, which form the basis for this moving film. Achache sorts the inheritance, shows archival materials and lets Marion Cotillard take on the role of Carole in re-enacted scenes. Carole’s eventful life was shaped – and above all burdened – by her own mother’s prominent intellectual circle of friends. A sexual abuse overshadowed her path, Achache finds out in her intimate but never voyeuristic search for clues.
