The numbers are out of this world: 122 consecutive races won, nine years, nine months and nine days unbeaten. Rarely has a sport been so utterly dominated as the 400m hurdles were by Edwin Moses in the 1980s. But Michael Wech’s dynamic documentary not only celebrates the athlete, but also the theoretician and tinkerer, the activist and representative of the later black civil rights movement. No wonder that Hollywood legends such as Samuel L. Jackson, Spike Lee and, as an executive producer, Morgan Freeman pay their well-deserved respects to their idol in this movie.
