Every superhero has a trauma, but rape is rarely one of them. The chambermaid Amelie is the victim of sexualised violence at her workplace – and subsequently develops special powers with which she can identify and punish perpetrators. Elsa van Damke’s pitch-black superhero satire doesn’t shy away from dispensing any social truth, no matter how sad, breaking any cinematic taboos, and leaping into any genre. Because when Amelie meets her own tormentor in the course of this five-part mini-series, the sarcastic tone can quickly turn to horror.
