A group of young men more than four decades ago wanted to manifest their innovative ideas and obsessions in an artistic way, but they would neither go for paintings nor for photography. Instead they founded cult band Kraftwerk – and since then they have stayed two step ahead of everyone else. Kraftwerk were electronic pioneers, inspiring countless other artists world-wide with their completely original industrial sound. They completely revolutionized rock culture and undermined the dominant cult of personality. The documentary KRAFTWERK – POP ART approaches the phenomenon that is Kraftwerk by studying the pop-cultural relevance of an experimental, reclusive band from the Rhine area that grew to be one of the most influential pop acts of all time.
