Music documentary special in cooperation with WDR

When British music journalists heard the sound that came from German bands at the end of the 60s and the start of the 70s, they labelled it, slightly mocking, „Krautrock“. The word has stuck around as an umbrella term for the music of bands like Amon Düül II, Can, Guru Guru, the early Kraftwerk or Tangerine Dream. These pioneer's merits have sadly been overshadowed by their commercially much more successful descendants, and they remained forgotten for a long time. But today the Krautrock era is hailed as a main influence on electronic music world-wide. Even Bands like Rammstein or the Scorpions would have been unthinkable without Krautrock. Stefan Morawietz dissected the Krautrock era for a German television audience for the first time in 2006 with his six-part documentary KRAUT UND RÜBEN, of which we will screen parts 1, 3, and 6.
