The personal is political – in this absorbing romantic drama/thriller-mixture this is more than just a famous phrase. In THE REPORTS ON SARAH AND SALEEM a simple affair spells disaster for two families. This is mostly due to Sarah being from Israel and Saleem being a Palestinian. The wife of a career soldier and mother of one runs a small café in Jerusalem, with Saleem making deliveries. Their affair goes undetected, until one evening Saleem takes Sarah with him for a delivery run into the Palestinian territories, and an unlucky coincidence leads to a catastrophic chain reaction. At the International Film Festival Rotterdam this Palestinian production won the audience award as well as a Special Mention by the jury.
