UNSER KIND

Ellen and Katharina are married and, with the help of a sperm donor, Katharina has born a child. But their family situation is awkward, their relationship is in crisis and the state agency has delayed Ellen's adoption papers. And when a blow of fate rips Katharina from the family, a desperate struggle for custody of the child erupts. To tell this drama from the still lingering depths of prejudices and discrimination director Nana Neul relies on associative images. The fractured narrative with flashbacks and memory fragments takes some time to put itself together, but the emotional conflicts and cliffs that the characters are balancing on get all the more intensive for it in this masterly melodrama.
